It’s a fact. Bears can’t be reasoned with. Even calls to their sympathy don’t work. Maybe I’m the last to see this video (it’s in the news already), but this woman’s desperate pleas to have a bear spare her kayak are pretty funny. As a tip to you, maybe turn the volume down. She gets pretty screechy and desperate at times.

Here’s my thoughts on this. Her voice makes me want to feed myself through a woodchipper, that much has already been established by others. I’m not sure the bear was really meaning any harm until she sprayed it, but I don’t know.

But as far as the kayak is concerned. Yes, bears are strong creatures. Yes, I’m sure it very well could break the actual kayak if it wanted to. But as far as I can tell, the hull is fine. Sure, the trip home would suck with a torn up seat, but at least you’ll make it home fine. Let the bear get bored and he’ll go away.

That’s a much bigger bear right there. These guys are braver than me. I re-started it from the beginning. That bear goes from docile to aggressive in a fraction of a second. At times he’s so calm it looks like he’s trying to hide, like just blend in or something.

I think the bear was kind of just playing, maybe scavenging a bit. I’m surprised she was so reluctant to spray it again. The bear will live, and your kayak would be spared.
